Jay Veniard: Email Sequence Refresh

A little over a year ago I partnered with the Pryority Group to bring done-for-you sales messaging to the recruiting industry.

It’s been a blast, especially on a recent project with All-Star recruiter Jay Veniard

Jay is a former pro baseball player, straight shooter who tells it like it is, and helps automation & manufacturing sales leaders fill critical revenue-generating territories with President’s Club level talent.

The challenge:

Jay’s been on top of his email sequences and was getting ready to send out emails to hiring managers for Q4. His emails were good, but he hired me to see what it would look like to have a specialized writer take a swing at it. 🏌️‍♀️

The solution:

Jay and I talked about his goals and he mentioned he gets a good bit of traction on LinkedIn. I took a look and loved how personal and to the point he was in his LinkedIn posts.

For his emails, I took the framework he already had and essentially poured gasoline on the fire with punchy copy. Like every email project, the key is empathizing with the customer first, presenting your solution, and keeping it ENGAGING. 🤪

Since Jay and his clients typically bond over sports, I enhanced that theme throughout the sequence and always made sure to relate back to their core need: a specialized recruiting partner to help them hire President’s Club level talent that would knock their sales out of the park.

After seeing the first draft Jay said “That copy is awesome and sounds like me, just in a way better way. You nailed it” and had zero edits!

After the project he said… “You obviously understand the recruiting world and have the unique ability to capture someone's tone and character and turn that into copy. I'll be using you ALOT.”

Well, well, well! 😂

Turns out hiring a copywriter can make “you” a little you-er, and turn into a win-win for everyone.

This project was another confirmation that it’s not about reinventing the wheel. You can take what you already have, jazz it up, and keep things moving.

If you’ve felt like you have “good” and just want to jump to “best” – you can! Hiring a copywriter doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch.
